Looking at an EV offer?

Found the vehicle? Compare the finance too.

More brands and models mean more choice for your next business vehicle. Factory bonuses and run-out offers may also reduce the upfront cost of selected EVs and plug-in hybrids. Before signing, check the total vehicle price and finance costs, not just the monthly repayment. Send us the vehicle details and quote, and we can help compare suitable finance options.

Manufacturer offers vary by model, stock and date. Finance is subject to lender approval.

Understanding approval

Can your business finance an electric vehicle?

Yes, eligible Australian businesses can finance new and used electric vehicles. The lender considers both your business and the vehicle you want to purchase.

Your business

  • Trading history and business structure
  • Cash flow and financial position
  • Credit profile and existing commitments
  • Available application documents

Your vehicle

  • Make, model and purchase price
  • Age, condition and new or used status
  • Seller and intended business use
  • Requested finance term and balloon, if any

See our EV finance requirements guide for more detail on lender assessment and documentation.

Finance to suit the purchase.

A chattel mortgage is one structure commonly considered for business vehicles. Other options may be available depending on the borrower, vehicle and lender. We can compare available terms, repayments, fees and any proposed balloon payment. Your accountant can advise on the tax treatment for your circumstances.

Planning a fleet or charging setup?

Multiple vehicles and commercial charging equipment may need separate consideration. Discuss the wider project before committing to the purchase. Explore EV fleet finance and our EV charging equipment finance guide.

Electric vehicle finance FAQs

Can a business finance an electric vehicle in Australia?
Yes. Eligible Australian businesses can finance electric cars, utes, vans and trucks. Available structures and approval depend on your business, the vehicle and lender policy.
Can I finance an electric ute through my business?
Potentially, yes. Battery-electric and plug-in hybrid work utes may qualify for business vehicle finance. See our Electric Ute Finance page for more information.
Can businesses finance electric trucks?
Finance may be available for eligible electric trucks and commercial vehicles. Larger transactions may require more detailed information about the business and intended work. Explore Electric Truck Finance.
Can I finance a used electric vehicle?
Some lenders finance eligible used EVs. Vehicle age, condition, value and lender policy can affect the available term and structure. Read our new vs used EV finance guide.
Do lenders treat EVs differently from petrol or diesel vehicles?
Policies vary. Some lenders consider EVs under their standard vehicle-finance criteria, while others have specific requirements for particular models or asset types. Comparing lender criteria is part of finding an appropriate option.
Can charging equipment be included in EV finance?
It depends on the lender and transaction. Commercial chargers and installation may need separate equipment finance. Our EV charging equipment finance guide covers the considerations.
Can I get low-doc EV finance?
Some established businesses may qualify for lower-documentation finance. Eligibility depends on trading history, credit profile, loan amount, asset and lender policy. Low-doc does not mean no assessment or guaranteed approval.
How long can an electric vehicle be financed for?
The available term depends on the lender, vehicle age and type, and your business circumstances. We can explain the available terms and how they affect repayments and total finance costs.
Do I need a deposit to finance an EV?
Not in every case. Some qualifying applicants may be able to finance the full vehicle purchase price; others may need a contribution. The lender assesses this against the application and vehicle.
Can a business finance multiple electric vehicles?
Potentially, yes. Fleet purchases and staged replacement programs can be assessed against your business position and existing commitments. Read our EV fleet finance guide.
Which EV brands can Woodward Finance help with?
We can explore eligible business-use vehicles from established and newer manufacturers. See the brand examples above, or send us the make, model and quote. Finance depends on the specific vehicle and lender policy.
